Produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, The Goonies follows a group of young friends who discover an ancient treasure map and embark on an extraordinary underground adventure in search of the legendary pirate One-Eyed Willy's lost fortune. Along the way, they encounter mysterious passages, dangerous traps, hidden treasures and a succession of unforgettable surprises.

Dave Grusin's remarkable score transforms this extraordinary journey into a captivating musical adventure. From moments of exhilarating action to passages of mystery and heartfelt emotion, the music remains an essential part of the film's enduring appeal.

Renowned for his exceptional versatility, Dave Grusin has enjoyed an extraordinary career spanning jazz, orchestral composition and motion picture soundtracks. His sophisticated harmonic language, remarkable melodic sensitivity and instinctive understanding of dramatic storytelling have established him among the most respected composers in American cinema.

The programme opens with the energetic "Fratelli Chase", immediately immersing the listener in the film's atmosphere of danger and excitement. Memorable selections such as "The Goondocks", "Cellar and Sloth", "Skull and Signature" and "Boulders, Bats and a Blender" reveal Grusin's ability to move effortlessly between playful adventure, orchestral drama and suspense.

Throughout the album, the composer develops a wonderfully colourful musical landscape, allowing delicate instrumental passages and powerful dramatic sequences to unfold with remarkable imagination. The result is a soundtrack that can be enjoyed independently of the film, evoking the magic of childhood discovery and the irresistible excitement of a great cinematic adventure.
