A magnificent tribute to the timeless elegance of Scandinavian piano jazz and the extraordinary musical legacy of legendary pianist Kenny Drew.

With Caravan – For Kenny Drew, Scandinavian 3 brings together three outstanding musicians : Jan Lundgren on piano, Hans Backenroth on double bass and Kristian Leth on drums. United by their passion for classic acoustic jazz, these accomplished artists deliver a captivating musical experience combining sophisticated improvisation, lyrical sensitivity and an irresistible sense of swing.

Renowned for his exceptional touch, harmonic refinement and expressive melodic imagination, Swedish pianist Jan Lundgren has established himself as one of the most distinguished figures in contemporary European jazz. His elegant playing reflects a profound appreciation of the great American piano tradition while embracing the distinctive lyricism and atmospheric beauty of Scandinavian jazz.

Accompanied by the remarkable Hans Backenroth and Kristian Leth, Lundgren explores a fascinating selection of jazz standards and expressive compositions. From the rhythmic excitement of "Caravan" and the timeless romanticism of "Misty" to the sophisticated harmonies of "Softly as in a Morning Sunrise" and the delicate beauty of "The Days of Wine and Roses", the trio demonstrates extraordinary musical chemistry and an exceptional ability to transform familiar melodies into deeply personal interpretations.

Throughout this remarkable recording, Hans Backenroth's warm, resonant double bass provides a beautifully expressive foundation, while Kristian Leth's subtle and dynamic drumming brings rhythmic precision, delicacy and spontaneous energy. Together, the three musicians create an intimate musical dialogue in which every note, phrase and improvisation contributes to a wonderfully balanced performance.

Presented in a prestigious Japanese Venus Records limited edition on two 180 gram vinyl LPs, "Caravan – For Kenny Drew" belongs to the acclaimed Venus Masterpiece LP Collection.
