Few artists shaped the sound of popular music like Chuck Berry, and Back Home finds the rock and R&B pioneer doing what he did best delivering sharp songwriting, irresistible grooves, and guitar riffs that helped define an era.

Released in 1970, Back Home marked Berry's return to his longtime home label, Chess Records, after a stint with Mercury. The album reunites him with the sound and style that made him a legend, blending rock 'n' roll energy with blues, soul and country influences. Berry's signature wit is on full display throughout originals such as "Tulane" and "Have Mercy Judge", while his unmistakable guitar work remains as vibrant and inventive as ever.

Though released during a period of rapid change in popular music, Back Home proves that Berry's formula of storytelling, rhythm and swagger was timeless. His knack for turning everyday tales into unforgettable songs and his ability to make a guitar sing are evident from start to finish.
